The forty participants introduced themselves as they enjoyed the Microsoft-provided lunch. Honorary Consul Goetschel then thanked Microsoft for its hospitality and explained the twofold purpose of the meeting; first, to present the Microsoft company to the delegation. Second, to launch a series of quarterly lunches for the Swiss professional community in Seattle.
In his address, Ambassador Blickenstorfer explained how his visit fit with several current initiatives to foster relations between Switzerland and the USA. This intensification of bilateral relations has been prioritized by the Federal Council and is embodied in several projects, such as an upcoming science agreement between the two countries, and recent agreements covering law enforcement, foreign affairs cooperation and the recent Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum.
General Consul Lichtenstern, recently arrived to San Francisco from Hong Kong, presented the activities and responsibilities of the Consulate General Of Switzerland in San Francisco, and looked forward to future events in Seattle.
The last presentation was given by Christian Simm, Executive Director of Swissnex. Mr. Simm presented the multifaceted activities of Swissnex, an innovative collaboration between the Swiss government, universities and the private sector. Mr. Simm invited the participants to attend one of the many events hosted by Swissnex in San Francisco.

At the conclusion of the meal, the delegation and participants were invited to visit the Microsoft House, which showcases current and future Microsoft technology in the home setting.
